Gary Chapman Ronald Wappel
Mr. Ron Wappel is an NDT Level III outside agency Technical Training Instructor for Atlantic NDT Training. He is American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) certified Level III in six methods for nondestructive testing: Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic (UT), Eddy Current (ET), Magnetic Particle (MT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), and Visual Testing. Mr. Wappel has worked as an NDT Level III for a number of companies including Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, and FMC/Norhtern Ordnance.
Mr. Wappel has over 35 years of experience in the field of nondestructive testing. He has been a Level I, II and III technician in all of the major methods. He has also worked as a field inspector, document control specialist, training specialist, quality supervisor, operations and safety manager, and senior nondestructive testing Level III.
Mr. Wappel has many years of teaching experience in nondestructive testing as an instructor with the Hutchinson Technical Institute of Minnesota, Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, and the Technical Training Center of Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
Mr. Wappel holds both an Associate in Arts and Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota. He studied for his Masters Degree in Industrial Education while teaching Isotope and Advanced Radiography; Metallurgy and Manufacturing Processes; Codes, Specifications, and Procedures Writing; and Management and Industrial Relations. He successfully completed U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Schools at Bainbridge, Maryland and Windsor, Connecticut, and is a certified OSHA Safety Trainer.
Mr. Wappel was also awarded a Fellow status by the ASNT Board of Directors for his contributions to the advancement of nondestructive testing and evaluation.
